Explore Shayne Hodge’s strategic moves in commercial real estate as he transforms properties, creates value, and builds lasting success.

Shayne Hodge from the Hodge Group

I recently sat down with Shayne Hodge, a self-made millionaire, to uncover the fascinating journey of his career in real estate. In our in-depth conversation, Shayne shared how he got his start in residential real estate sales in Perth, Australia, knocking on doors and offering free appraisals to secure his first listings. He later transitioned to commercial real estate, joining a small Italian agency, Conti Sheffield, where he handled leasing, sales, and various transactions.

In this first part of our podcast series, Shayne also reveals how he joined his family's business, Waltus, co-founded by his father in 1986. Starting with a bold move to lower the minimum investment to $5,000, Shayne helped grow Waltus from a modest client base to managing $750-$800 million in funds. He shares the challenges they faced, including liquidity issues that led to the merger of syndicates into Urbus and the eventual sale to ING.
